Choosing familiarity is to choose everything you already know, including what you’re repressing about what you don’t want to know. But to leap into the unfamiliar is to acknowledge the repressed pain that lives in the familiar and choose to heal instead of cope. To choose the unfamiliar is to choose growth. Unfamiliarity precedes alignment. Which will you choose? #Heal #Grow

Love me some Neurofeedback. Like many of you, I to Love me some Neurofeedback. Like many of you, I too had some nervous system dysregulation issues that needed addressing. I tried many approaches over the years and I can attest that Neurofeedback has been the necessary (and monumental) shift I needed to regulate my nervous system. For many, this shift can translate to: less anxiety, depression, ADD/ADHD symptoms, PTSD, CPTSD, and greater presence and embodiment. Neurofeedback offers real, measurable neuroplastic change. It’s quite something!

I’ve been busy helping people, including myself, I’ve been busy helping people, including myself, deepen healing and optimize human potential! Today, I’m showing you a glimpse of what a LENS Neurofeedback session looks like. Although I’m only showing 2 sites (areas) in this video, a session includes going over numerous sites on the head.

An immediate & typical response post-session includes sensations of “clearing” in the head, “like a weight has been lifted,” central nervous system calming, relaxation, alertness, and more. The long term effects are long-lasting/permanent neuroplastic changes toward an optimized brain, nervous system regulation, and relief from various types of symptomatology!

Have you tried #Neurofeedback before? Feel free to share how it’s helped you!

I'm thrilled to have Iris on Heal Podcast! After I'm thrilled to have Iris on Heal Podcast!

After struggling with bulimia, complex trauma, and depression for over a decade, Iris became determined to understand what was fuelling her self-destructive behaviors and troubling symptoms. This eventually led her to an in-depth study of trauma which resulted in a radical personal transformation. She now helps people all over the world overcome similar struggles through trauma-informed education, group programs, and individual coaching.

In this episode, Iris and Lucie discuss how the parent and food are so deeply connected. When there are disruptions in the parent/child connection, the aspects of that connection (nurturing, pleasure, soothing, etc.) become threatened and the child can experience scarcity. The attempt to soothe is often primitive (unconscious) and can create a life-long battle with an object (like food, alcohol, etc.). Reaching for objects that provide pleasure, soothing, etc. is an unconscious attempt to fulfill neurobiological needs for nurturing.

Traumatic impacts are mostly unconscious. If we ar Traumatic impacts are mostly unconscious. If we aren’t paying attention to the cues and getting curious about what age they belong to, we may never learn how to process present-day sensations that belong to the past.

Often survivors feel shame, believe they are flawed, and tend to ruminate on the pain that emerges (emotional and physical sensations). With no ability to connect it to the time, place, dynamic (etc.) it originated from, survivors fight their own pain in the present.

Dr. Goldberg and I explore how “survival” neural networks form and how to reverse it. We explore how to activate the brain and nervous system’s embodied sense of self with Neurofeedback. We share how Neurofeedback can help survivors regain (or gain for the first time) access to their most authentic selves.

Another fight. Another painful interaction. Anothe Another fight. Another painful interaction. Another tear to the relationship. Many ask why relationships are so hard, and the truth is that sometimes one or both partners approach the relationship with a subconscious "control" mindset. Let me explain.

Think about a time you lost a negotiation, a time where you felt like you weren't well-liked by your peers, or a time when you felt like you weren't in control of keeping your job or moving up. In these scenarios, we often feel powerless. We give so much of ourselves in hopes of gaining something in return. In relationships, the same can hold true, but can cause serious strife.

If we are not aware of the fact that we are trying to gain control of disagreements or trying to "win" the argument, then we have already lost because it's not about one partner winning over the other, it's about both coming together to tackle the cause of the argument and make it right, together.

When you and your partner argue, try to look at it like it's a dual issue to tackle without keeping score.

Do you argue like this? Feel free to share what has worked for you in the past/currently!

Think of neural "structures" as ever-changing. If Think of neural "structures" as ever-changing. If they are grounded in dysregulation, then they strengthen in greater phobic ideas and beliefs that spread across all parts of our "selves" & lives. However, if we learn to regulate our internal states, then the structures can shift. We can develop new pathways that reflect ideas and beliefs based on the states we choose to strengthen. The more regulated our states, the more connected we can be with ourselves, others, our purpose, the world & its magic.
